  • Even beginners can enjoy completing a pair of Nuno-Zori (shoes) in this one-day course.
  • The venue is on the second floor of the Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature (inside Minato no Mieru Oka Park/Habor View Park).

  • Please choose your favorite fabric for base and hanao or thong.
  • There are various fabric available according to the season (in addition to cotton, we also have pile fabric for summer and fleece fabric for winter).
  • Choose from over 250 types of hanao or thong (Liberty, Hawaiian, Japanese pattern, flower pattern, USA fabric, POP, etc.)
Start work
  • You can make regular cotton Nuno-Zori (cloth sandals), Ashi-Naka (half size) Nuno-Zori (cloth sandals), mini Nuno-Zori (cloth sandals), fleece Nuno-Zori (cloth sandals), fur Nuno-Zori (cloth sandals), etc. in your preferred size. You can choose your preferred base fabric and hanao or thong.
    The base of one foot will be completed by the morning.
12:00 ~ 12:30 Lunch Break
  • In the afternoon, make the other base/sandal and attach the hanao or thong to complete the experience!
  • The class ends with a commemorative photo of the completed Nuno-Zori (cloth sandals.)
  • The time it takes to complete the class varies from person to person, so everyone can go home whenever complete.

  • The one-day course is suitable for making regular Nuno-Zori (cloth sandals), while the half-day course is suitable for making mini Nuno-Zori (cloth sandals.)
    (You can make one regular cloth sandal even in the half-day course)
  • We will lend you the necessary tools for making Nuno-Zori (cloth sandals), such as a cloth sandal weaving stand and a bamboo stick, free of charge
  • Things you need to bring are scissors (regular size), lunch, and an apron (not required)
  • You can choose your favorite color and pattern to purchase a Nuno-Zori (cloth sandal) kit (base, hanao or thong, rope) to make at home
  • Please note that we will close registration as soon as we reach capacity

Regarding On-Site Lessons and Group lessons
  • We will be able to offer on-site lessons, so please contact us using the inquiry form here.
  • We can adjust the schedule and hold lessons for groups of 4 or more, but the area must be within 1 hour drive from Naka-ku, Yokohama.
  • It takes about 4 hours to make Nuno-Zori (cloth sandals), so the class is held from 10:00 to 15:00 (1 hour lunch break)
  • Making "mini Nuno-Zori (cloth sandals)" (easy to make) is often well received at community activity meetings. We look forward to your inquiries.
